For driver Sean Varwig, Racing is much more than a simple hobby. Sean's passion has been put towards just about anything loud and fast for as long as he can remember. "When I was about 4, I would get scared of one of my dad's cars when he would start it in the garage. I would start crying because it was so loud." says Varwig, "little did I know, I would end up driving that same 1987 Porsche 911 Turbo to high school."

Varwig's most recent season had him driving in the Deluxe Porsche Carrera Cup North America with Kellymoss Racing. After a rocky start to the season, Varwig came into his own in the latter half with accomplishments like a front-row start at Indianapolis and a podium finish in Laguna Seca.
Sean will be the first to say that motorsports still has his heart, and he still wants to win, but after a long season, he needed a change. The now 20-year-old claims that this past season took a toll on his academic studies and that the full-season time commitment was just too much. Alongside racing, Sean is also a full-time student at the University of Iowa studying Neuroscience and Chemistry.

"Mid-last year is when we started to discuss the opportunity to manage a club-level team in 24 possibly'. This is something that I found very intriguing, especially since runoffs (SCCA National Championships) would return to my home track of Road America. Some might consider what I'm doing to be a step down from racing, but this isn't how I see it. Racing has become an extremely serious sport to the point where people lose their passion for the sport. I think it's about time someone brought the fun back to racing." says Varwig.
Given how motorsports has become extremely difficult for young drivers due to
sponsorship difficulties, Varwig hopes he can use what he has learned to help other aspiring racers as well. With all this in mind, Varwig and his partners agreed that Spec Miata seemed like the perfect platform to launch this new venture due to its affordability and competitiveness.
"This is not necessarily my forever goodbye to professional motorsport, and I fully intend on renewing my IMSA license, but as of this moment, there is nothing on my calendar. For now, I just look forward to getting back in a Miata and spending time with my old friend and teammate Brandon Collins"
As far as team management goes, "I've got a few tricks up my sleeve that I learned from pro racing to put into action this year. As far as bringing the fun back, get ready for what we have in store for Atlanta come March." Claims Varwig.
"It's hard to talk to Sean and not get excited about whatever he says." Says one of Varwig's college friends. "We are all eager to see how he mashes competitive professionalism with his life-of-the-party attitude."
